Stephen Gately (Stephen Patrick David Gately) was an Irish pop singer, actor, dancer, and songwriter born in 1976. He rose to prominence as one of the two lead vocalists of the band Boyzone , whose albums reached number one on the UK charts. With the band, he recorded sixteen singles, all of which reached the top five of the UK Singles Chart. In 2000, Stephen Gately released a successful solo album and three hits. In addition to music, he participated in television projects and wrote songs for other artists. His contribution to pop music remains significant through his work with Boyzone and his solo achievements.
