Known for his haunting falsetto voice and intricate guitar picking, he became a key figure in the Delta blues genre. His 1931 recordings for Paramount Records, including songs like "Devil Got My Woman" and "Hard Time Killing Floor Blues", are considered classics. Though his career waned for decades, he experienced a revival during the 1960s folk-blues movement, performing at festivals and influencing artists like Eric Clapton. Skip James remains a pivotal figure in blues history, celebrated for his unique style and contribution to the genre's evolution.
