Shorty Long was an American soul singer, songwriter, musician, and producer born on May 20, 1940, in the United States. Known for his work with Motown's Soul Records, he contributed significantly to the label's early success. Among his notable tracks are "Function at the Junction" and "Here Comes the Judge", the latter becoming a major hit in 1968. Tragically, his career was cut short when he passed away on June 29, 1969. In 1980, Shorty Long was posthumously inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy as a key figure in soul music history.
