Sheb Wooley was an American country and pop singer, born in 1921 in Erick, Oklahoma. He gained fame for his humorous and novelty songs, most notably the 1958 hit "The Purple People Eater", which topped the charts in the United States. In addition to his music career, Sheb Wooley was also an actor, appearing in films such as "High Noon" and the TV series "Rawhide".
