
Selena (born April 16, 1971, in the United States) was an American singer, songwriter, model, actress, and designer. She became one of the most successful Mexican-American performers of the 20th century and was nicknamed the "Queen of Tejano" for her contribution to the popularization of the genre. In the 1990s, Selena was recognized as the most commercially successful Latin American artist by Billboard magazine. Among her best-known songs are "Amor Prohibido" and "Como La Flor" Her work had a huge influence on the development of Latin American music and brought the Tejano genre into the mainstream.
