
Sara Watkins is an American singer, songwriter, and violinist born in 1981. She gained prominence in 1989 as the violinist for Nickel Creek, a progressive bluegrass band she co-founded with her brother Sean Watkins and mandolinist Chris Thile. In addition to her vocal and violin performances, Sara Watkins plays Hawaiian guitar and percussion during tours with The Decemberists. In 2012, she and her brother performed alongside Jackson Browne during his acoustic tour "I'll Do Anything." Her contributions have enriched the genres of bluegrass and folk-rock, showcasing her versatility as a musician.
