Santa Esmeralda is a French-American musical group founded in 1977 in Paris. The band performs disco and flamenco music. The group was created by composers Николя Скорски and Жан-Мануэлем де Скарано for the Fauves Puma label. Santa Esmeralda gained international fame thanks to their cover version of the song "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" originally performed by Нина Симон in 1964. The group performed actively until 1983, then revived in 2002. Santa Esmeralda made a significant contribution to the popularization of dance music, combining elements of disco and traditional flamenco.
