Russ Ballard (born 31 October 1945) is an English musician from the United Kingdom who works in the rock and pop genres. He initially gained fame as the vocalist and guitarist for the band Argent , with whom he recorded hits such as "Hold Your Head Up" By the late 1970s, Russ Ballard had become a successful songwriter and producer, writing compositions for artists such as Rainbow and Hot Chocolate . His songs, including "Since You Been Gone" have become rock classics. Russ Ballard has made a significant contribution to the development of rock music, both as a performer and as a writer of hits that remain popular decades later.
