He is best known as the frontman, vocalist, and rhythm guitarist of the rock band The Cars, as well as the primary songwriter for the group. The Cars achieved significant success in the late 1970s and 1980s with hits like "Just What I Needed", "Drive", and "You Might Think". Beyond his work with the band, Ocasek was a respected producer, collaborating with artists such as Weezer. His contributions to rock music, both as a performer and producer, left a lasting impact on the genre. He passed away in 2019.
