Refused is a Swedish rock band from Umeå, formed in 1991. The band performs hardcore punk and post-hardcore. During their initial active phase before disbanding in 1998, Refused released five EPs and three full-length albums. Their third album, The Shape of Punk to Come , was ranked number 13 on Kerrang! 's list of "The Most Important Music Albums of All Time." The band's lyrics are known for their left-wing, anti-capitalist, and non-conformist stance. Refused made a significant contribution to the development of post-hardcore, becoming one of the genre's most influential bands.
