
Ray Sawyer (1937–2018) was an American percussionist and vocalist, best known as a member of the 1970s rock band Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show . Although he primarily performed backup vocals and played congas or maracas, his voice is featured on the lead vocals of the band's hit "The Cover of Rolling Stone" Ray Sawyer distinctive features were his eyepatch and cowboy hat, which made him easily recognizable. He was also the uncle of Wild Fire lead singer Заку Сойеру . Ray Sawyer made a significant contribution to the popularization of pop rock in the 1970s.
