R.L. Burnside (1926–2005) was an American blues singer and musician from the United States. Known for his raw and electrifying style, he was a prominent figure in the Mississippi hill country blues tradition. Over his career, R.L. Burnside released several acclaimed albums, including "Too Bad Jim" and "A Ass Pocket of Whiskey", the latter a collaboration with the punk-blues band Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.
