Polarkreis 18 is a German pop band from Dresden, Saxony, founded in 1998. The band began as Jack of all Trades but changed its name to Polarkreis 18 in 2004. The band has worked in the pop, synthpop, and indietronica genres. Their album The Colour Of Snow and the single "Allein Allein" brought them widespread recognition, with the single topping the German Media Control Charts for over a month in 2008. In 2012, the band announced a hiatus, and some of the members founded the project Woods Of Birnam . Polarkreis 18 have made a significant contribution to the development of German pop music.
