Paul Gilbert (full name Paul Brandon Gilbert ) is an American musician born on November 6, 1966. He is known as a virtuoso guitarist in the progressive metal genre. Paul Gilbert rose to popularity through his work with the bands Racer X and Mr. Big , as well as his solo instrumental albums. In 2007, he performed alongside Joe Satriani and John Petrucci as part of the G3 tour. His guitar technique and contribution to the development of progressive metal have made him one of the most respected musicians in the genre.
