
Oscar Brown, Jr. was an American jazz and R&B singer, songwriter, playwright, and poet born in 1926 in the United States. In addition to his musical career, he was active in the civil rights movement and even ran for the Illinois State Assembly and the U.S. Congress. Oscar Brown, Jr. released 12 albums and wrote more than a dozen musical plays. Among his well-known songs are "The Snake" and "Work Song" His work had a significant influence on the development of jazz and musical theater.
