Oingo Boingo was an American new wave band formed in 1979 by Danny Elfman. Originating in the United States, the group evolved from the surreal musical-theatrical troupe The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, which Elfman had led in prior years. Known for their eclectic style blending pop, rock, and ska, the band released thirteen albums that charted on the Billboard 200. Their highest achievement on the Billboard Hot 100 was reaching #45. Active until 1995, Oingo Boingo left a lasting mark on the new wave genre with their innovative approach and theatrical performances.
