Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (1948–1997) was a Pakistani singer who performed music in the Sufi style of qawwali. Born in Pakistan, he became known as the "Shahanshah Qawwali" ("King of Qawwali Kings"). During his career, he released 125 albums, a number recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records. His work had a significant influence on the popularization of qawwali outside of South Asia. Among his notable works are collaborations with Western musicians, including albums with Peter Gabriel . Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is considered a key figure in world classical music and an icon of the Sufi tradition.
