
Nona Hendryx is an American vocalist, record producer, songwriter, and musician born in 1944. She is best known as a member of the trio Labelle , which released the hit " Lady Marmalade ." In 1977, Hendryx launched her solo career with a self-titled album, which, despite being a commercial failure, marked the beginning of her experimentation with funk music. In the 1980s, she collaborated with the group Material , recording the track " Busting Out ." Nona Hendryx made significant contributions to the development of funk and pop music, combining experimental elements with traditional genres.
