Necrophobic is a Swedish blackened death metal band formed in 1989 by drummer Joakim Sterner and guitarist David Parland . The band's debut album, The Nocturnal Silence , was released in 1993. Their second album, Darkside , was preceded by the EP Spawned by Evil . Their third album, The Third Antichrist , like their previous releases, was released on the Swedish label Black Mark Production . With the release of their fourth album, Bloodhymns , the band switched to the Dutch label Hammerheart Records , which allowed their music to reach the American market. Necrophobic made a significant contribution to the development of blackened death metal, combining dark atmosphere with technical playing.
