My Own Private Alaska (also known as MOPA ) is a French band founded in 2007. The band works in the alternative and post-hardcore genres, distinguished by its unique lineup: a pianist, drummer, and vocalist, without the use of a guitar. In 2008, they released a demo album called MOPA . Their first full-length album, Amen , was released in 2010, followed by the acoustic album The Red Sessions in 2011. The band is known for its unusual performance style—all members play seated, which has become their signature. My Own Private Alaska has contributed to the development of experimental music, combining emotional vocals with minimalist instrumentals.
