Mitski (full name Мицуки Фрэнсис Лэйкок ) is a Japanese-American singer-songwriter born in 1990. She began her musical career with the self-released albums " Lush " and " Retired from Sad, New Career in Business ," recorded while studying at Purchase College's Conservatory of Music . Her third album, " Bury Me at Makeout Creek ," was released on Double Double Whammy , and subsequent works, including " Puberty 2 " and " Be the Cowboy ," were released on Dead Oceans . In 2021, she released " Laurel Hell ," and in 2023, " The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We ." Mitski has made significant contributions to the development of indie and alternative music.
