Mastodon is an American metal band from Atlanta, formed in 2000 by drummer Брэнном Дейлором and guitarist Биллом Келлихером . Their style combines sludge, groove, and progressive metal with elements of stoner rock. The band's second album, "Leviathan" , inspired by Herman Melville's novel Moby-Dick, was named the best album of 2004 by Revolver , Kerrang! and Terrorizer magazines. Mastodon has been nominated for three Grammy Awards, winning the 2018 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance for the song "Sultan's Curse" The band has made a significant contribution to the development of progressive metal, releasing eight studio albums, many of which have reached the top 10 of Billboard 200 .
