
Mark Sandman (1952–1999) was an American singer, composer, instrument inventor, and multi-instrumentalist. Originally from the United States, he became an indie rock icon, particularly in the Boston and Cambridge music scenes. Sandman gained his greatest fame as the vocalist and slide bassist for the band Morphine . He was also a member of the blues-rock band Treat Her Right and the founder of the studio and independent label Hi-n-Dry . His work made a significant contribution to the development of alternative and dance music, leaving a lasting mark on musical culture.
