Mariya Takeuchi is a Japanese singer and songwriter, born March 20, 1955. She is a key figure in the city pop genre, popular in Japan in the 1980s. She collaborates with renowned singer and producer Tatsuro Yamashita , her husband. Her album "Variety" (1984) includes the hit "Plastic Love" which gained cult status thanks to the internet revival of city pop.
