
Ману Дибанго (1933–2020) was a Cameroonian saxophonist and vibraphonist, one of the founders of Afrobeat and Afro-jazz. Born in Cameroon, he studied in France from the age of 15 and subsequently lived in Paris. In the 1970s, Ману Дибанго played a key role in popularizing the makossa genre in the West. His most famous track, "Soul Makossa" became an international hit and influenced numerous artists. Дибанго was also designated a UNESCO Artist for Peace, recognizing his contribution to world culture. His work has left a significant mark on African music and jazz.
