Machinae Supremacy is a rock band from Luleå, Sweden, founded in June 2000. The band combines heavy metal and alternative rock with elements of chiptune, a genre in which sounds are created using the sound chips of game consoles or computers. The band calls its style "SID metal," making extensive use SidStation , an instrument based on the SID chip from Commodore 64 Machinae Supremacy released 32 original songs for free download, which were downloaded over 3 million times in 2006 alone. Their work influenced the development of industrial rock and the popularization of chiptune.
