Lou Monte (real name Louis Scaglione ) is an Italian-American pop singer born in 1917 in the United States. He gained widespread fame in the late 1950s and early 1960s for his hits celebrating Italy and Italian culture. Among his best-known songs are "Pepino the Italian Mouse" and "Lazy Mary" which gained popularity for their humorous and culturally relevant content. Lou Monte made a significant contribution to the popularization of the Italian musical tradition in American pop culture.
