He rose to international fame in 1986 as the lead singer and frontman of the band Double , thanks to the hit " The Captain of Her Heart ." The track became one of the most recognizable pop compositions of the decade, fusing elements of modern jazz and pop. In addition to his work with Double , Kurt Maloo also pursued a solo career, experimenting with genres including house and electronic music.
