Kristin Hersh is an American singer, guitarist, and songwriter born in 1966. She is best known as the founder and leader of the rock band Throwing Muses. After the band's fifth album, she launched a successful solo career with the album Hips and Makers, featuring the hit single "Your Ghost", a duet with Michael Stipe. In recent years, she has led the band 50 Foot Wave and gained recognition as the author of the memoir "Rat Girl". Hersh is also a co-founder of the nonprofit music software project CASH Music, contributing significantly to the indie and folk-rock genres.
