Kim Gordon (full name: Ким Альтея Гордон ) is an American vocalist and bassist born in 1953. She is best known as a member of the alternative rock band Sonic Youth , which had a significant influence on the development of indie rock and alternative music. Rolling Stone magazine included her in its list of the 50 greatest bassists of all time, ranking her at number 39. As a member of Sonic Youth , she contributed to such iconic albums as "Daydream Nation" and "Goo" . Her contributions to music have made her an icon of the alternative scene.
