Kataklysm is a Canadian death metal band formed in 1991 in Montreal. The band calls its style "Northern Hyperblast," referring to their extremely fast blast beats. Early on, Kataklysm was characterized by a chaotic and fast-paced sound, but after the departure of Sylvain Houdet, their music became more melodic. Since 2015, the band has experimented with elements of groove metal. Their notable albums include "In the Arms of Devastation" and "Meditations" Kataklysm has made a significant contribution to the development of extreme metal, remaining one of the most recognizable bands in the genre.
