Jorma Kaukonen (full name: Jorma Ludwik Kaukonen Jr ) is an American blues and rock guitarist, born December 23, 1940. He is best known as a founding member of the psychedelic rock band Jefferson Airplane , which achieved cult status in the 1960s. Kaukonen is also a member of the blues and folk rock band Hot Tuna . His contributions to music include virtuoso guitar technique and participation in the creation of such hits as "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit" Jorma Kaukonen has had a significant influence on the development of rock and blues music.
