Johnny Van Zant is an American singer born on February 27, 1960. He is best known as the current lead vocalist of the southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. Hailing from the United States, he comes from a musical family, being the younger brother of Ronnie Van Zant, co-founder and former lead vocalist of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Donnie Van Zant, founder of 38 Special. Johnny Van Zant joined Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1987, helping to carry on the band's legacy after the tragic loss of its original members. His contributions have solidified the band's place in southern rock history.
