
Johnny Paycheck (real name Donald Eugene Little) was an American country singer born in 1938 in the United States. He rose to prominence with his recording of David Allan Coe " Take This Job and Shove It " which became a hit in the 1970s. Paycheck was a key figure in the outlaw movement in country music, alongside artists such as Hank Williams Jr. , Waylon Jennings , and Willie Nelson . In 1980, he performed on the PBS Austin City Limits . However, his career was slowed by problems with drugs, alcohol, and the law. He served a prison sentence in the early 1990s, and declining health ended his career by 2000. Johnny Paycheck left a significant mark on country music, popularizing its rebellious side.
