
Johnny Bristol was an American musician born in 1939 in Morganton, North Carolina. Working in the soul, pop, and R&B genres, he rose to prominence as a songwriter and producer for the Motown label in the late 1960s and early 1970s. His achievements include writing the hit "Love Me for a Reason" which became a worldwide success for The Osmonds , reaching number one in the UK charts in 1974. His solo career was marked by the song "Hang On in There Baby" which reached the top 10 in the US and number three in the UK. Johnny Bristol left a significant mark on the development of soul music.
