
John Sebastian is an American singer, songwriter, and musician born in 1944. He is best known as the founder of the rock band The Lovin' Spoonful, which gained prominence in the 1960s with hits like "Do You Believe in Magic" and "Summer in the City". In 1969, he performed an impromptu solo set at the iconic Woodstock Festival. Later in his career, he achieved a U.S. No. 1 hit in 1976 with the song "Welcome Back", which became the theme for the TV show "Welcome Back, Kotter".
