John D. Loudermilk (1934–2016) was an American singer-songwriter who worked in the country and pop genres. He also recorded under the pseudonym Johnny Dee . During his career, John D. Loudermilk wrote numerous hits, including "Tobacco Road" which became a classic and was covered by many artists. His songs were performed by such stars as The Everly Brothers , Chet Atkins , and Eddy Arnold .
