
Joe Simon was an American soul and R&B musician born in 1943 in the United States. He began his career as a gospel singer with the Golden West Singers in California's Bay Area. Between 1964 and 1981, Joe Simon achieved significant success, charting 51 hits on the U.S. pop and R&B charts, including eight Top 40 pop hits and 38 Top 40 R&B hits. His most notable songs include three Billboard R&B chart-toppers: "The Chokin' Kind", "Power of Love", and "Get Down, Get Down". In 2021, he was nominated for the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy in the genre.
