Joe Morello was an American jazz drummer born in 1928. He is best known as a member of the Дэйва Брубека Quartet, where he played from 1957 to 1972. In the group's "classic lineup" (1958–1968), he was joined by alto saxophonist Пол Десмонд and bassist Юджин Райт . Thanks to Morello mastery of complex rhythms, the quartet recorded albums with experimental time signatures, including the legendary Time Out (1959). This album included the hits " Take Five " and " Blue Rondo à la Turk ", which have become jazz classics. Morello made a significant contribution to the development of jazz rhythmicity.
