
Jimmy McCracklin was an American pianist, singer, and songwriter born in 1921. His work spanned genres such as West Coast blues, jump blues, and R&B. During a career spanning seven decades, McCracklin wrote nearly a thousand songs and recorded hundreds of them. He released over 30 albums and earned four gold records. Among his famous compositions is "The Walk" a hit in 1958. Tom Mazzolini of San Francisco Blues Festival called him one of the most significant musicians of the postwar period in the Bay Area. McCracklin left a significant mark on the history of blues and R&B.
