Jimmy Martin (1927–2005) was an American bluegrass singer and musician known as the "King of Bluegrass." Born in the United States, he became one of the key figures in the bluegrass genre. Jimmy Martin began his career in the 1940s, collaborating with Bill Monroe and his band, Blue Grass Boys . He later founded his own group, Sunny Mountain Boys , which became popular for their harmony vocals and virtuoso playing. His famous songs include "Sunny Side of the Mountain" and "Freeborn Man" Jimmy Martin had a significant influence on the development of bluegrass, inspiring many subsequent generations of musicians.
