
Jimmie Davis (1899–2000) was an American singer from Louisiana who performed country, pop, and jazz. In addition to his music career, he served as governor of Louisiana twice, in 1944 and 1960. In 1972, Jimmie Davis was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. His best-known song is "You Are My Sunshine" released on the Decca label in 1940. It later became the official song of the state of Louisiana and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Jimmie Davis left a significant mark on the history of country music.
