Jello Biafra, born Eric Reed Boucher on June 17, 1958, in the United States, is an American punk rock musician, music publisher, and political activist. Best known as the lead singer and lyricist of the influential punk band Dead Kennedys, he became a prominent figure in the punk scene of the late 1970s and 1980s. The band’s albums, such as "Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables", featured politically charged lyrics and satirical commentary. Beyond his work with Dead Kennedys, Biafra has released spoken word albums and collaborated with artists like Melvins. His contributions to punk rock extend to his activism and his independent label, Alternative Tentacles. He remains a key voice in punk's political edge.
