Jan Hammer is a Czech-born American composer and pianist, born in 1948. In the early 1970s, he was a member of the rock band Mahavishnu Orchestra , where he distinguished himself as a virtuoso keyboardist. Jan Hammer is best known for creating the score for the cult television series Полиция Майами , including the famous "Miami Vice Theme" which earned him a "Грэмми" Award. His work spans jazz, lounge, and pop, and his contributions to instrumental music and soundtracks remain significant.
