James Darren is an American singer, actor, and director, born in 1936 in the United States. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, he rose to prominence with roles in films such as Gidget and The Guns of Navarone. As a pop singer, he had several hits, including the 1961 single "Goodbye, Cruel World." On television, he is remembered for his roles in the series The Time Tunnel and T.J. Hooker, as well as Vic Fontaine in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. James Darren made a significant contribution to the popularization of pop and jazz music.
