Jamala is a Ukrainian singer and actress, born on August 27, 1983. She performs jazz, soul, funk, folk, pop, and electro. A graduate of the National Music Academy of Ukraine, Jamala gained widespread recognition for winning Евровидение-2016 Song Contest with her song "1944," dedicated to the deportation of Crimean Tatars. She is a People's Artist of Ukraine and a laureate of the Taras Shevchenko State Prize of Ukraine. In addition to her musical career, Jamala performs in opera productions and television shows, strengthening her influence in Ukrainian culture. Her work has left a significant mark on contemporary pop music.
