
Harry Chapin was an American singer-songwriter born in 1942 in New York City. Known for his folk-rock and pop-rock hits, he recorded 11 albums and sold over 16 million records worldwide. Among his most famous songs are "Cat's in the Cradle", "Taxi", and "W.O.L.D.". A recipient of a Grammy award and an inductee into the Grammy Hall of Fame, Chapin was also a dedicated philanthropist. He fought against world hunger, helped establish a presidential commission on hunger, and was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for his humanitarian efforts. His work left a lasting impact on both music and social activism.
