
Dave Guard (1934–1991) was an American folk singer, songwriter, arranger, and record engineer from San Francisco, USA. He rose to prominence as a founding member of the Kingston Trio , along with Nick Reynolds and Bob Shane . The group played a key role in the revival of interest in folk music in the 1950s and 1960s. Among their most famous songs is "Tom Dooley" which won a Grammy Award. Dave Guard made a significant contribution to the popularization of folk music by combining traditional melodies with modern arrangements.
