Grandmaster Flash , formed in the South Bronx, USA, in 1978, was one of the most influential groups in the hip-hop genre. The group consisted of DJ Grandmaster Flash and five rappers known as The Furious Five . Their innovative use of turntablism and breakbeats played a key role in shaping early hip-hop. The group's most famous song, "The Message" became iconic for its social message. Grandmaster Flash and his group made significant contributions to the development of hip-hop, and in 2007, they became the first hip-hop group inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame .
