Girlschool is a British rock band formed in 1978 in the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) style. They were one of the first all-female rock bands, starting out under the name Painted Lady while the members were still in school. Despite limited commercial success, Girlschool paved the way for other female rock bands. Founding members Ким МакОлифф and Денис Дюфорт remain with the band to this day. Original guitarist and vocalist Келли Джонсон died of cancer in 2007. The band made a significant contribution to the development of classic metal.
